RELATO MAPUCHE DE LA CREACION

TRADUCCION

TRANSLATION

When I was a little boy, my grandfather told me
the Creation's Story

He said that long ago, before the whites arrived
and killed the Mapuche

God lived above with his wife and children
he reign over the sky and earth
and he was called by many names

Chau, the father and also Antu the sun,
or Ngeunechen the world's creator
The queen who was God's wife
was called Moon, the Blue Queen and also
Kushe, that means "The Wise" woman of knowledge.

God had done a great job over the land
he had created the sky, with all it's clouds
and each of the stars
the land with it's huge mountains
and fertile valleys, the rivers and lakes
also he made the forests and at the end of creation
he opened this enormous fingers to sprinkle here and there
the animals, men and women.

Done with his job, he chose a sacred land
to give life to the Mapuche people.

That is the story my grandfather told me
when I began my life.
